Hopefully by Sunday, many have had their power restored and made even a small dent in the major cleanup required by many.
For the safety of parishioners, Father Chris decided that only a Saturday night Mass would be safe as we were all being told to “shelter in place” starting Sunday. The information was given to the answering service and placed on the churches Internet site, hoping that it would reach as many parishioners as possible. Mass Intentions during this time will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
At Mass, we learned of the Polish custom of placing a picture or statue of the Blessed Mother in the window facing the storm and praying for Her intercession. Half way through the storm, we realized she was facing the wrong direction and quickly changed windows. Thanking God for no hurricane-related deaths in our area.
From Father Chris: Hopefully this finds all of our parishioners safe from harm’s way. The storm was massive affecting so many in different ways. Whether it was power interruptions, some flooding , damage to your home, large amounts of debris from trees or personal issues, Father Richard and I are praying for you at this time.
The church and Rectory did suffer damage but nothing that cannot be repaired. Please continue to pray for those that did have flooding or damage to their home.
Pray for those that are unable for any reason, to restore their home or yards. Remember to also pray for all of those brave people that come to our aid during and after the storm. Doctors, nurses, hospital staff, those working in Nursing homes and especially the very brave EMT/Paramedics, Police and Emergency Management workers assisting in the shelters and the National Guard that were mobilized to assist with those unable to help themselves. Thanks also to newscasters that kept us informed before and during the storm and encouraged so many to be prepared in advance. It worked! Many did have some damage but were safe.
God bless all of you. We continue to pray for the restoration of power and that you remain safe !
