The Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord commemorates the visit of the magi to worship the baby Jesus as told in the Gospel of Matthew: “Behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage.’”
The Blue Army is happy to announce our first annual potluck brunch on New Year’s Day in honor of the Solemnity of Mary.
Where: Avila Hall
When: New Year’s Day after the 11:30 am Mass
All parishioners are invited to bring a breakfast or lunch dish. Drinks and tableware will be provided. The Thanksgiving Potluck was very successful. About 40 people attended and shared a fantastic assortment of delicious treats. I want to know that many of those who attended requested to meet again, so please consider joining us on New Year's Day.
The Third Sunday of Advent is also known as Gaudete Sunday. The word “Gaudete” is derived from the Latin words “Gaudium,” joy, and “Gaudeo,” to rejoice or be glad. Gaudete Sunday occurs eight to thirteen days before Christmas, and the nearness of the feast is the reason for great joy.
We need your voluntary help serving donuts and coffee on Sundays after all the Masses, especially after the 11:30 Mass. This is a very rewarding Ministry that allows you to serve, meet, and visit with your fellow Parishioners. Please contact the Faith Formation Office if you are interested!
The Blue Army is happy to announce our second annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner.
Where: Avila Hall
When: Thanksgiving Day at 2:00 pm
All parishioners are invited to bring their side dishes and/or desserts to share.
We will provide the Turkey, gravy, coffee, water, and tableware.
Doors open at 1:30 pm, dinner at 2:00 pm
November is dedicated to the Souls in Purgatory, whose feast is celebrated on November 2. Except for the last two days, the entire month of November falls during the liturgical season known as Ordinary Time, represented by the liturgical color green. This symbol of hope is the color of the sprouting seed. It arouses in the faithful the hope of reaping the eternal harvest of heaven, especially the hope of a glorious resurrection. It is used in the offices and Masses of Ordinary Time.
First Reconciliation for 2nd-grade students (School and Religious Education) will be held this Wednesday, October 22, at 6:15 pm. We will meet in Avila Hall. Please pick up your child at the church after the reconciliation service.
If you have any questions, contact the Faith Formation office.
