Holy Family

The feast day of the Holy Family, but also every family's feast day, since the Holy Family is the patron and model of all Christian families. Today should be a huge family feast, since it is devoted entirely to the Holy Family as a model for the Christian family life. As Rev. Edward Sutfin states:

"The children must learn to see in their father the fosterfather St. Joseph, and the Blessed Mother as the perfect model for their own mother. The lesson to be learned is both practical and theoretical, in that the children must learn how to obey and to love their parents in thought, word and action, just as Christ was obedient to Mary and Joseph. Helping mother in the kitchen and in the house work, and helping father in his odd jobs about the home thus take on a new significance by being performed in a Christ-like spirit."

New Year's Pot Luck Brunch

The Blue Army is happy to announce our first annual potluck brunch on New Year’s Day in honor of the Solemnity of Mary.

Where: Avila Hall

When: New Year’s Day after the 11:30 am Mass

All parishioners are invited to bring a breakfast or lunch dish. Drinks and tableware will be provided. The Thanksgiving Potluck was very successful. About 40 people attended and shared a fantastic assortment of delicious treats. I want to know that many of those who attended requested to meet again, so please consider joining us on New Year's Day.

We Need Your Voluntary Help

We need your voluntary help serving donuts and coffee on Sundays after all the Masses, especially after the 11:30 Mass. This is a very rewarding Ministry that allows you to serve, meet, and visit with your fellow Parishioners. Please contact the Faith Formation Office if you are interested!

The Month of November is Dedicated to the Souls in Purgatory

November is dedicated to the Souls in Purgatory, whose feast is celebrated on November 2. Except for the last two days, the entire month of November falls during the liturgical season known as Ordinary Time, represented by the liturgical color green. This symbol of hope is the color of the sprouting seed. It arouses in the faithful the hope of reaping the eternal harvest of heaven, especially the hope of a glorious resurrection. It is used in the offices and Masses of Ordinary Time.

Columbus Day October 14th

Our Knights of Columbus will hold a drive for the families affected by Hurricane Helene. On Wednesday, October 16th, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., they will be at the West side of the school, near where the Christmas tree lot is set up, to accept donations. They are asking for non-perishable items (food, socks, work gloves, bottles, etc.).

Volunteers of our Parish

Message from Father Chris to the Volunteers of our ParishA church could not thrive without the assistance of its volunteers. On this feast of our Patron, St. Teresa of Avila, I sincerely thank the men and women of our Parish who assist with our many services to keep our parish successful. I have never seen so many that rise to the occasion each week to make our services a spiritual place to pray, find comfort, and attend Mass. It would not happen without you. Thank you from my heart, and blessings to all who made it happen.

God Bless, Father Chris
