St Blasé Blessing of Throats

We will have the "Blessing of Throats" during all Masses the weekend of January 31st and February 1st.

Saint Blaise was the bishop of Sebastea and a doctor. The earliest known account of the saint's life comes from the medical writings of Aëtius Amidenus, where he is recorded as helping patients with objects stuck in their throats. Many of the miraculous aspects of St. Blaise’s life are written of 400 years after his martyrdom in the “Acts of St. Blaise.”

End of the Christmas Season

Christmas is 12 days.

We’ve all heard the Christmas carol “Twelve Days of Christmas.” While it’s unclear as to why someone would give someone 23 separate birds, a pear tree, and the services of 50 people over 12 days, there actually is a liturgical precedent for claiming that Christmas is 12 days long.
